About Dominic Franks

My name is Dominic. I am a cook, food writer and creative event producer. Belleau Kitchen is my recipe blog which I fill with the food I love. I am influenced by anything from my mum, to places I’ve travelled. I like to think of my recipes as ‘everyday rustic.’ I am based both in the small village of Belleau in Lincolnshire, and the smaller village of London.

I have always loved food. I grew up in a Jewish household and food was the centre of our lives. From the regular evening meals to bigger family gatherings, it was always about food. As a child I was surrounded by my Mom’s amazing cooking, so I think she was my biggest foodie influence growing up. And her Mom, my grandma, was also amazing at making cakes and baking, which is why I’m thrilled to be creating this recipe for Leisure’s Baking Tribe.

I love baking because there’s something about placing a loaf of freshly baked bread, or fresh cake, on the table and seeing your friends’ faces light up. There’s really nothing quite like it, even if it’s the most basic cake, it’s still something you’ve created. I love that you have to dedicate time to baking, you can’t skip over parts and it can’t be rushed. I find this quite relaxing. There’s nothing I find more satisfying than spending the day in the kitchen baking!
