To establish the top locations for access to local food shops and allotments per capita, we analysed the most populated locations with 100,000 or more residents (according to World Population Review) and searched sources like Yell.com and Google to establish the number of butchers, bakeries, fishmongers, greengrocers and farmers markets in each location. We used Ordnance Survey for allotment data. These figures were then divided by each city’s population to generate a per capita figure which was allocated a score across each metric. The top 25 highest scoring cities were then selected to feature within this campaign. Research was conducted during August 2020. All data and sources available here.
